While visiting his father who was in a care facility, Garrett Brown, the inventor of Steadicam, noticed the need for a product between walkers and wheelchairs. “Once you consign yourself to a wheelchair, your feet are not on the ground particularly.You’re not upright.” Understanding the importance of standing upright for cardiac, bone and digestive health and psychological well-being, it was clear to Brown that there should be a solution allowing wheelchair users to not be seated at all times.
For around 10 years, Brown worked alongside a team of engineers to work on this new product. To this date, there have been 100 Zeens produced that provide customers with an extra degree of freedom and autonomy. “To be up among your fellow humans is one of the things we hear most often that they love about this machine,” says Brown.
